The Economic and Financial Crimes
Commission, EFCC, on Wednesday, arraigned two former employees of
Vanguard Media Limited, Dickson Ubi Effah and Ngozi Anthony, before
Justice Jude Okeke of the Federal Capital Territory High Court, Maitama,
on a four-count charge of theft and misappropriation of funds.
The duo, according to a statement by the Head, Media & Publicity of the Commission, Wilson Uwujaren, was alleged to have stolen approximately N2 million from their employer, thereby committing an offence punishable under section 287 of the Penal Code Act cap 532 Laws of the Federation of Nigeria 2004.
The accused persons pleaded not guilty when the charge was read to them.
Mr. Okeke granted bail to the accused persons in the sum of N3 million each and a surety in like sum.
The surety, the judge said, must be resident in Abuja and should depose to an affidavit of means, while their addresses are to be verified by the court registrar and operatives of the Commission.
The case was adjourned to June 27 for trial.
