Ceo Star boy entertainment and EME trail blazer Ayo ‘wizkid’ Balogun is unarguably a house hold name in the Nigerian music industry today that is widely known and acclaimed for the unique style and vibe he brings on his music every time he sings. He’s hard work and resourcefulness has brought him on the same stage with music heavy weights like Chris brown and a host of others. Since he’s debut album in 2011, the afro- beat ace has shown no signs of slowing down and has had major massive collabos both with international arts as well indigenous ones-the legendary femi kuti inclusive. Here is a review of his top 5 songs till date;
5. Jaiye Jaiye ft femi kuti. It was for me the perfect collabo. With femi kuti doing his thing and wizkid vibing as usual, the song was nothing but another afro-beat classic for lovers of that genre of music.
4. Azonto is at no. 4 and samba produced by sars is at no. 3. Both songs are of similar disposition and they both rocked our airwaves for some time. They panned out to be massive club bangers too and wizkid, once again did shut it down.
2. I love my baby produced by shizzi, is undoubtedly a song that was simply catchy and easy to sing along and most appealing to the ladies as well. The serenading melody of this song made it my pick for the no.2 spot on this countdown.
1. my no 1. favourite Wizkid song of all times is a song that stirred-up quite a reasonable level of controversy at the time of its release. It was said of this song that it was originally composed and sang in Spanish by someone who definitely wasn’t wizkid. The song however saw the light of the day and had a lovely video to go with it as well, one that had every teenager excited and every adult reminiscing. It’s a song that introduced wizkid to music lovers out there and helped establish him as well as he’s art. ‘Holla at your boy’ is the title track and it’s my no.1 wizkid song of all times.
