    Drogba joins Galatasaray:

    Ivory
    Coast
    captain
    and
    former
    Chelsea
    striker
    Didier
    Drogba
    has
    left
    Shanghai
    Shenhua
to sign a 1-1/2 year contract with
    Galatasaray, Turkish broadcaster CNN Turk
    said on Sunday.
The channel did not give any more
information and Galatasaray could not be
    reached for immediate comment.
The 34-year-old, who is on Africa Nations
Cup duty with his country, moved to China
after helping Chelsea win the Champions
    League last May.
Drogba signed a 2-1/2 year deal with
Shenhua in June that was, according to
media reports, worth around $300,000 a
    week.
    However, the Shanghai-based Oriental
Sports daily said last month that the player
was owed money by the club.
Drogba applied for permission to leave on
loan before the January transfer window
but world soccer̢۪s ruling body FIFA refused
    the request.
The striker returned to Chelsea to train at his
former club in a bid to stay sharp for the
Nations Cup, fuelling media speculation of a
    return to Europe.
If his move to Turkey is confirmed, the
transfer will come less than a week after
    Netherlands midfielder Wesley Sneijder
    joined Galatasaray from Inter Milan.

UNIZIK teaching hospital performs first knee surgery

    The Nnamdi Azikiwe University Teaching
Hospital, Nnewi in Anambra, has performed
    its first knee-joint replacement surgery.
According to the News Agency of Nigeria,
this is coming barely two months after the
hospital achieved a similar feat in hip
    replacement surgery on three patients.
The Acting Chief Medical Director of the
    hospital, Dr. Anthony Igwegbe, announced
the development on Sunday in Nnewi
    during an interview with journalists.
Igwegbe, a former chairman of the Medical
Advisory Committee of the hospital, said the
hospital̢۪s aspiration was to become one of
the best teaching hospitals in the country.
Igwegbe said the surgery was jointly
performed by the immediate past CMD of
the hospital, Prof. Robinson Ofiaeli, an
    orthopaedic surgeon, and two consultants
from Fortis Hospital, India, Dr. Shalimar Bagh
    and Dr. Subhash Jangid.
He said some consultants in the hospital had
been sent to India to acquire new
technologies to render some of the medical
    services sought overseas.
Igwegbe said, â€Å“The hospital acquired a lot
of equipment with its internally generated
revenue to carry out the surgery and
    different other surgeries.
â€Å“More equipment will be acquired just as
    the collaboration with foreign medical
experts will continue and more cases will be
    treated by the hospital.”

S-H-O-C-K-I-N-G: Man hangs self in Kaduna

was found dangling on a mango tree.
The name of the victim suspected to
have killed himself could not be
ascertained as at time of filing this
    report.

    Kaduna command have taken custody
of the body. The body was brought
down by the police and taken to a

to reach his relations. More details later.

Pandemonium in Abeokuta as masquerade kills one

Hell was let loose Monday in
Abeokuta, the Ogun State capital after a
    masquerade allegedly shot dead an
Islamic cleric identified as Lateef Sabiu
    during Egungun festival.
This simultaneously led to a reprisal
attack as youths allegedly razed down a
    building belonging to traditional
    worshippers in protest against the
murder of one of their members.
    Vanguard gathered that the 22-year
Islamic Cleric was allegedly shot dead
Sunday evening while he was on a
    motorcycle popularly called Okada
during a ‘stop and search’ in Ijaye.
It was gathered that the masquerade
    popularly called â€Å“lehin Aponle” was
allegedly armed with guns and other
    dangerous weapons.
    Confirming the incident Police Public
    Relations Officer, PPRO, Muyiwa Adejobi,
told newsmen in Abeokuta that the
    Command had arrested three persons
along with the masquerade over the
    murder of the late Cleric.
Adejobi noted that the Command had
suspended further activities of the year
2013 edition of masquerade festival in
    the state.
    According to Adejobi, â€Å“those we
arrested in connection with the murder
are one Ajayi Olabintan (40), Shittu
    Adeyemi, Wahed Babalola and the
    masquerade.”
Also speaking over the matter, one of
the community leaders, the Balogun of
Ijaye and Aare of Egbaland, Chief Ganiyu
    Babayeju-Alemo, said the crisis has
forced the Egba Traditional Council to
suspend other activities for the 2013
    Egungun festival in Abeokuta.
    In another development, gunmen on
Sunday night brutally killed a 60- year
old woman, Amoke Musuru, and her
    grand-son, 2, Balqis, in Ago-Oba area of
    Abeokuta.
Vanguard gathered that, the killers broke
into the one room apartment of the
woman in the family storey building
    located within Ajiko compound.
The assassins according to the finding,
smashed the head of the duo with iron
rod without the knowledge of other
    residents of the building.
When vanguard visited the scene, blood
of the deceased littered the room, where
the late Baliqs and her grandmother
    popularly called Iya Saubana were
    murdered.
Vanguard learnt that the police had
taken away the corpses for autopsy,
which were said to have handed over
    to the family for burial.
It was gathered that those arrested and
interrogated by the police over the
    killing had been also released.
Confirming the incident, the Police Public
    Relations Officer, Muyiwa Adejobi, said
two persons had been interrogated over
    the dastardly killings.
According to him, â€Å“they (the deceased)
    were murdered by unknown persons.
We have visited the scene and two
    persons have been arrested for
interrogation to help us with the
    investigation.”
However, the children of the late
    woman, Saburi and Hakeem Moshood,
    expressed shock over the ugly
    development.
The children who reside in Ibadan, said
they came to Abeokuta to make
arrangement for the re-burial of their
    grandmother whose corpse was
    exhumed during the demolition exercise
by the State government before they
met their mother and a child in their
    pool of blood.
MURIC also called on the Muslim
community in the area to exercise
patient and desist from taking laws into
    their hands, adding that security
    operatives and the state government
should be allowed to take charge of the
    situation.

Dana plane crash site now robbers̢۪ den

BARELY eight months after the Dana
plane crash, in Ojokoro Local Council
    Development Area (LCDA), armed robbers
have turned the crash site into a
    hideout.
    Although the state government has
    barricaded site, rubble from the
    destroyed structures have not been
    removed and weeds have overgrown
the once upon a residential area.
It will be recalled that over 153 persons
died on June 3, 2012 when the ill-fated
flight crashed into a two-storey building
    on 12 Olaniyi Street.
The site of Dana Air crash
Vanguard gathered that residents of the
area are now gripped by fear of attack
from the robbers, who hide in the site at
    night.
It was also learnt that the bad state of
    the road which hinders vehicular
movement is also aiding robbers in
    perpetuating their nefarious acts.
Mrs. Bashir, a resident of Olaniyi Street
said that her son was attacked by the
robbers while on his way to board the
    early morning train.
According to her, â€Å“Since my son was
attacked, we have stopped leaving our
home before 6:00 am. We are gripped
by the fear of the robbers always.”
    Engr. Adeleke Matthew, another resident,
decried the poor state of the site, saying
â€Å“it has contributed to insecurity in the
    community.”
    Matthew noted that the government
was not doing anything to improve the
state of the crash site and the roads.
    Chairman Akande Community
    Development Association, (CDA), Mr.
Adewale Oriowo said: â€Å“It is true that
anyone who passes through the site at
night or before 6:00 am would be
attacked by the robbers. At this time, the
    crash site is always dark.
â€Å“In fact, over four residents have been
attacked. When the robbers are through
with their nefarious acts, they hide in
the crash site. And due to the present
state of the site, no one will be bold to
go inside to confront the robbers. The
state of the site gives the robbers
    opportunity to see anyone trekking
along the street while those outside
wouldn’t be privileged to see them.”
The chairman of the CDA lamented that
â€Å“none of the roads in the community is
    motorable. The state government has
neglected Akande, a community on the
border line between Lagos and Ogun
    state.”
    Commissioner for Economic Planning
and Budget, Mr. Ben Akabueze had
during the 2013 budget analysis said
the government would within the year
rehabilitate the network of roads linking
the site of the Dana Plane Crash.
Oriowo continued, â€Å“We are hoping that
the roads will be done this year as said
    by the commissioner. Previously what
has been sustaining the road was the
yearly contribution of N5, 000 from the
    each landlord.”

HOW TO APPROACH A GIRL AT A PARTY

HOW TO APPROACH A GIRL AT A PARTY

    Do you ever get
    nervous when you
see a pretty girl at a
    party? Do you
    stumble and look
    silly or lack confidence when
    you start to
    approach a girl? If
    so, this article is all
    you need to help
    boost your confidence and
    start approaching
    women at parties.
    Most of the times,
    the one girl you see
at the party who stands out to you
    more than anyone
    else has noticed
you too, but it is the
    way you approach
    the girl that determines whether
    or not she is going
    to receive you.
    Below are some
    basic tips to help
you approach the girl of your dreams
    and possibly get her
    number too.

    HERE IS HOW TO START

    1. Before even going
    to the party, make
    sure your hygiene
    and clothing are
    presentable. Most
girls will not waste their time with a guy
    who does not spend
    time grooming
    himself.

    2. When you have
    spotted a girl who
    you are interested
    in, make eye
    contact with her and
smile at her. This automatically lets
    the girl know that
    you have noticed
    her. If she looks
    away, laughs to her
friends or does not smile back, chances
    are she is not
    interested, but if
    she smiles back,
    continue to step
    three.

    3. After you receive
    the "I see you too"
    cue from the girl, it
    is time to approach
    her. Walk over to
her calmly, standing straight up and with
    confidence
    because body
    language is the key .
    When approaching
her, make sure to only be looking at
    her. Don't pretend
    to be waving at your
    friends or looking
    around at nothing.
This looks weird and girls notice it. Stay
    completely focused
    on her.

    4. Once you have
    approached the
    girl, start talking.
    Avoid a cheesy first
    line. Chances are,
the girl whom you are approaching
    has already heard
    every line in the
    book,so be simple
    and just ask for a
dance, if there is music. >Example: Hi,
    my name is
    _______________,
    and I was wondering
    would you like to
    dance?

    5. If you are still
    interested after the
    dance, ask her for
    her number..... T.B.C

    Warnings:-
    Since you are at a
    party, knowing how
    to dance is
    important but not
    necessary. If one
girl turns down your offer to dance, it
    does not mean she
    does not like you. It
    simply means she
    was not interested in
dancing with you. Move on to
    someone else and
    keep trying. The "I
see you too" cue is :
    when a girl smiles at
you or looks back at you as if she wants
    you to approach
    her. You will know if
    a girl gives you this
    cue because it is
    noticeable. Don't be overly excited
    and do not use
    cheesy lines. Let
    the girl know you
    are interested by
showing her, not telling her. Do not
    follow the girl
    around all night just
    because she gave
    you her number. Do
not tell her your entire life story
    once you meet her.
    Here are a few ways
    to open up a
    conversation with a
    girl after you have already
    approached her:
    Tell her your name
    Tell her you like her
    outfit Ask her for a
dance Tell her you'd been waiting
    to approach her all
    night

    Bad breath and
    odor are instant
    turnoffs.
    Complimenting a
    girl is key, but do
    not over do it.

Burnt Oko-Baba Market: Victims kick against relocation

  • RESIDENTS and traders of Oko-Baba,
Ebute Metta area of Lagos State have
urged the state government to design a
‘Master Plan’ for the area instead of
relocating them to Timber village, in
Ikorodu Local Government Area of the
    state.
    This came as Oko-Baba Internally
    Displaced People, IDPs, abandoned the
Agbowa Relief Camp, in Ikorodu suburb
    over alleged poor living conditions.
There are about 450 IDPs including 98
    children in the camp.
Three weeks ago, fire gutted the Oko-
    Baba Sawmill, destroying equipment
worth millions of naira and rendered
    about 1000 people homeless.
Speaking during an inspection tour of
    ongoing projects at the proposed
relocation site for Oko-Baba Saw millers,
Governor Babatunde Fashola said: â€Å“It is
going to be a clearly articulated timber
village that is a whole industry on its
own with offices, trailer park and other
    ancillary services like welding, carpentry
    and woodwork. What is further
interesting about the Timber Village is
the housing estate that is being
constructed where people can live with
modern housing facilities away from the
    unsightly and unacceptable conditions
    that now exist.
â€Å“We made an agreement with them; I
signed on behalf of government a
    Memorandum of Understanding (MOU)
with them. This is the future that we
want for them. We are delivering on our
promise and there is going to be a
community of about 3000 houses here
with the first 400 already done.”
However, contrary to earlier claims by
the General Manager of Lagos State
    Emergency Management Authority,
    LASEMA, Dr Femi Oke-Osanyintolu that
IDPs were daily storming the camp,
    when Megacityspotlight visited the
camp last weekend, it was virtually
deserted as there were few people
around. Though, about 450 IDPs are said
to be accommodated only few people
    were seen around.
Osanyintolu had earlier claimed that the
IDPs would also be taught vocational
skills by the state̢۪s Ministry of Women
    Affairs and Poverty Alleviation and
    emergency stakeholders such as UNICEF,
    LASAMBUS, Nigeria Security and Civil
Defence Corps, none of these officials
was on camp when Vanguard visited.
    Also, there was no transportation
    provided. LASEMA boss had claimed:
    â€Å“We have also provided transportation
needs for them at the camp. By 6 am
bus takes some of them to Mile 12 while
in the evening precisely, by 6. 30 pm,
they are returned to the camp. That is
for those who intend to go out of the
place.”During his visit to the camp recently to
assess state of the victims, he said that
    everything needed to mitigate
the effect of the loss of properties on
the victims had been provided in the
camp in accordance with the governor̢۪s
directives, adding that efforts were also
ongoing by the state‘s Ministry of
Education to take charge of the
    education needs of the displaced
    children in the camp.
We’ve no means of livelihood – Victims
One of the IDPs at Agbowa, Mrs.
    Folashade Ojeshipe, commended the
state government for its gesture, saying:
â€Å“We were well fed here but we need
help for clothing and we need some
pocket money because we have no
means of livelihood. And also the
    government should remember its
promise to keep us here for only three
months. I lost my house and the stall to
the inferno but most importantly, they
are yet to take care of the schooling of
our children, they just keep on roaming
    about. We need Fashola̢۪s immediate
    intervention on this. â€Å“
Another IDP, a graduate of Yaba College
of Technology, Mr. Olamutu Olatunji, an
    Artist, appealed passionately to Fashola
for financial assistance as he had lost all
he owned to the fire. â€Å“I have been
redundant by not working. I want
    Governor Fashola to assist me
    financially. I do monument on
structures, all my materials got burnt in
the inferno. In fact I lost everything I
    owned to the inferno.”
    Why we̢۪re against relocation
However, some of the victims that
aandoned Agbowa and dn̢۪t want to be
    relocated to Ikorodu contended that
Oko-Baba has for decades been their
home and their main source of
    livelihood, hence, relocation would make
    them lose their heritage.
They added that it would cost the
government less to design a master plan
for the area that would include
residential, offices and sawmill than to
    commence new construction.
Mrs. Ayoka Salako, one of the residents,
said, â€Å“I want to rebuild my house. I don’t
want to leave this place, even to
    Agbowa relief camp.”
    According to Salako, a septuagenarian,
â€Å“this was where I gave birth to my six
children. I have nowhere to go. I have
lived here for long. Where does he
(governor) want me to relocate to? This
is my heritage. I am not ready to leave
this place. I am ready to rebuild my
structure. What we want from the
government is to design the area in a
way that the residents would live
separately from the saw millers,” adding
â€Å“I felt relieved when I heard that the
governor would be visiting the scene.
And when he came, I expected him to
    sympathize with us; disburse some
funds to the victims to rebuild our
structures and proffer solution on how
to end fire disaster in the area. Instead
he ordered that we should be relocated.”
Mr. Fola Muhammed, a trader, said: â€Å“The
relocation plan by the state government
cannot be possible. I am the one
managing my father̢۪s business since his
demise. And my father started the
business here before my birth. I am not
ready to relocate my father̢۪s business. If
I relocate the business away from here
to wherever the government planned to
build its new timber village, what will
happen to the avalanche of customers I
have? So I am not ready to lose any of
my customers. This is the hub of plank
    market business in the country.”
Mrs. Funmilayo Gbadamosi said that she
had experienced life at both Agbowa
and Oko-Baba, â€Å“but I prefer to live in the
    latter.”
Gbadamosi, a petty trader explained â€Å“I
was among the victims who went to the
resettlement camp at Agbowa. But I had
to leave because the camp isn̢۪t
    conducive for habitation especially for
me. Several others have also abandoned
the camp for the city. While at the camp I
was idle. And when I decided to leave
the camp to my office, I couldn̢۪t cope
    with the cost of transportation
considering the type of business I
    operate.”
Mr. Abiodun Adewole, whose office was
    razed, commended Fashola for the
relocation of the victims to Agbowa
relief camp, saying â€Å“It shows that the
    governor understand leadership.”
Adewole however said â€Å“what would be
the fate of the victims after three
months when they would be required to
leave the camp. Will there be any
provision after they leave the camp?”
    Conditions for relocation to Timber
    Village
Adewole noted that the traders and the
residents could not be relocated until
adequate facilities that would aid their
resettlement were provided at the new
timber village, saying â€Å“until then, the
    government shouldn̢۪t think of
    relocation.”
He stated that the place must be closer to
a lagoon, as this would aid the
movement of logs into the market. â€Å“A
fire station and schools must be
provided for the traders and the
residents. There must also be recreation
centres for the workers; an independent
power project (IPP) must be provided to
supply electricity at the centre. The
reason for this is the business relies on
power supply for its survival. Also, the
new village must be designed to
    accommodate the avalanche of workers
who rely on the market for their daily
    survival. ”
  • Delta Poly Governing Council Chair kidnapped

    vTHE fragile peace in Uzere
    community, Isoko South Local
    Government Area, Delta State, was,
    Sunday, shattered, following the kidnap
of the Chairman, Governing Council, of
    the state Polytechnic, Ogwashi-Uku,
    Professor Abednego Ekoko, by gunmen.
Ekoko, it was gathered, was driving into
his country home on his way from Oleh,
where he attended a church service,
when he was abducted at the gate and
whisked away in a Toyota Sienna car to
an unknown destination by the heavily
    armed kidnappers numbering four.
A source who craved anonymity, said
the renowned educationist was with his
daughter and driver in his car when the
    kidnappers swooped on him, adding
that the hoodlums shot sporadically into
the air before they bundled their victim
into the waiting car and sped off.
    When our correspondent visited the
    community, which had been embroiled
    in kingship tussle, yesterday, residents
were still wearing mournful looks. A few
of them who spoke with Vanguard,
described Professor Ekoko as a man
who has the interest of his community
    at heart.
The people, who do not want their
names in print, appealed to the
    kidnappers to release Professor Ekoko
unhurt. The source said the kidnappers
were yet to establish contact with the
    Ekoko family.
Confirming the incident, a senior police
officer attached to Oleh Police Division,
who pleaded anonymity, said no arrest
had been made. He said the police had
    commenced investigation into the
    matter, expressing optimism that the
    suspected kidnappers would be
    apprehended and brought to book

Why we’re sheathing our sword – Boko Haram commander

    AFTER 42 months of ceaseless
attacks during which it killed about 3000
    Nigerians, the Jama̢۪atul Ahalis Sunna
Lida̢۪awati Wal Jihad, also known as Boko
Haram Islamic sect, yesterday, agreed to
lay down its arms for peace to prevail in
    the country.
The cease-fire was reached after a
    marathon meeting between some
leaders of the group, which has been
terrorizing some states in the North,
particularly Borno since July 2009, and
    the Borno State Government.
The peace deal came after unknown
gunmen killed 13 people in Gajigana
town, a remote part of Borno State.
    Those killed included three JTF
operatives at the weekend. Also, a
    security man attached to AIT/Raypower
in Bauchi State was shot dead Sunday
night by a gang of suspected armed
    robbers.
The agreement between the Borno State
government and the sect was reached
    after a closed-door meeting between
suspected members of Boko Haram and
    Governor Kashim Shettima with other
    top government officials and religious
leaders from the state in attendance.
Spokesman for the Joint Military and
Police Forces in Maiduguri, which is the
epicentre of Boko Haram̢۪s campaign, Lt.
Col. Sagir Musa, confirmed the attack on
Gajigana town but did not give further
    details.
Meanwhile, an official of the Federal
Government said last night that the
    government would critically study the
    group̢۪s cease-fire terms before
    responding.
I saw eight bodies –Eye witness
Modu Bukar, a trader in the town, saw
the bodies after the attack, which sent
panicky residents fleeing, adding that he
had heard gunshots during the attack.
â€Å“I saw eight bodies afterwards – three
of them young men, and another five
who were heads of households,” he
said, adding that he did not know who
    was behind it.
    Borno State, which shares porous
borders with Cameroon, Niger and Chad,
on the threshold of the Sahara, has
    suffered increasing lawlessness since
    Boko Haram launched an uprising
    against the government in 2009.
A general breakdown of law and order
in the areas where the sect operates has
also created space for armed criminal
networks and ethnic militias with scores
to settle, both of which sometimes kill
    dozens in overnight attacks.
Why we’re sheathing our sword – Boko
    Haram commander
    Briefing newsmen after the marathon
    meeting in Maiduguri, Sheikh Abu
    Mohammad Abdulazeez Ibn Idris a
commander of Boko Haram in-charge of
North and Central Borno, said after due
consultation with the leader of the sect,
Shiekh Abubakar Shekau, as well as
    intervention and pleadings from
respected individuals and groups in the
state, we â€Å“have all come to terms and
agreed to lay down our arms.”
    The Boko Haram Commander, however,
    insisted that government should
    immediately release all their members
    from custody unconditionally, re-build
their places of worship and compensate
    them among other demands.
Sheikh Abdulazeez said that, the sect
    observed that during the lingering
insurgency, a lot of Muslim women and
    children had suffered untold hardship,
adding that, they also decided to lay
down their arms for peace to reign in
Borno and the country at large.
â€Å“I am appealing and calling on all our
members through this medium to lay
down their arms henceforth, till further
    notice,” Abdulazeez stated.
On the wanton killings, especially the
slaughtering of eight people in Gajigana
town of Magumeri Local Council of
Borno State on Sunday and burning of
    public buildings, he disassociated Boko
Haram from the acts, insisting that the
    atrocities were committed by criminals
hiding under the guise of Boko Haram.
Abdulazeez’s comments read in part: â€Å“I
    am Sheikh Muhammed Abdulazeez Ibn
    Idris, the second Commander in-charge
of Southern and Northern Borno after
Imam Abubakar Shekau of Jamaatul Ahjlil
    Sunna lidawati wal Jihad, otherwise
    known as Boko Haram.
We the members of Jamaatul ahlil sunna
lidawati wal jihad otherwise known as
Boko Haram recently had a meeting and
dialogue with the government of Borno
State where we resolved that giving the
prevailing situation, there is the need for
    us to cease fire.
We, on our own, in the top hierarchy of
our movement under the leadership of
Imam Abubakar Shekau, as well as some
of our notable followers agreed that our
brethren in Islam, both women and
    children are suffering unnecessarily;
hence we resolved that we should bring
    this crisis to an end.
â€Å“We therefore call on all those that
identify themselves with us and our
cause, to from today lay down their
arms. Let every member who hears this
announcement relay it to the next
    member who hasn̢۪t heard.
â€Å“We have met with the Borno State
Government on two occasions and the
fallout of the meeting is to cease-fire.
Presently, we are going to comply with
the cease-fire order and by the time we
are done with that, then government
security agencies can go ahead to arrest
whoever they find carrying arms or
    killing under our names.
We are very much aware of the fact that
    some criminals have infiltrated our
    movement and continued attacking and
    killing people using our names.
â€Å“We have also told the government to
try to live up to our demands that our
    members in detention should be
    released.
We hope the government will not betray
us this time around because we all know
that it was because of the continued
detention of our members that this crisis
continued for this long. And if
government fails to do as it has
promised, then this conflict will never
    have an end.
â€Å“Of course there is a faction within us,
but the larger faction of our movement
is the one in support of this cease-fire
moves. Moreover, once top members of
    our group including Imam Abubakar
Shekau are in support of the need for
ceasing fire, other smaller factions can
    be dealt with easily.
This message, by the Grace of Allah,
comes directly from the office of Imam
Abubakar Shekau, the supreme leader of
Jamaatul ahlil Sunna lidawati wal Jihad.”
It’s a welcome devt – Borno State govt
    Reacting to the development, Special
Adviser to Governor Kashim Shettima on
    Communication, Alhaji Isa Umar Gusau,
said it was a welcome development,
noting that the state government under
    the leadership of Shettima, since
inception, had opened its doors for
dialogue to end the hostilities which had
    disrupted economic activities and
    peaceful co-existence in the state.
    Contacted, Borno State Commissioner for
Information, Inuwa Bwala, said he was
just arriving from the burial of his first
cousin who was killed last Thursday and
did not have details of the meeting.
    FG to study their conditions
The Federal Government is to critically
study the conditions given by the Boko
    Haram sect while announcing its
    unilateral cease-fire before making a
    pronouncement.
A highly placed government official told
    Vanguard in Abuja, yesterday, that
government was not in a hurry to jump
at the offer being made by the sect.
    The official who pleaded anonymity
because government has not taken a
formal position on the matter noted that
â€Å“from our experience, the sect is not
reliable and their words cannot be taken
at face value. All facets of governmental
apparatus would be consulted before a
final decision would be taken on the
matter. We are not in a hurry to jump at
    their offer.”
    The official noted that while
    government was committed to dialogue,
it was not going to negotiate with any
group on a position of weakness and
    proactive security measures would
continue to be taken to safe-guard the
    lives and properties of Nigerians.
    How AIT man was killed
    Meanwhile, Vanguard gathered that the
    AIT/Raypower security man identified
as Malam Idris Yusuf was reportedly
killed sometime between 10 and 11pm
when he had closed from duty and was
    going home.
The robbers who were said to have
stolen a car asked him to help them with
petrol as their tank was empty and they
    were without money.
It was learnt that when the owners of
the stolen car who were trailing the
robbers sighted them and raised an
alarm, late Idris held the arms of one of
the suspects as he was about to escape
with his colleagues not knowing that the
    suspect had a gun.
He was said to have been shot in the
abdomen by the robber in the ensuing
scuffle but he died on the way to the
    Abubakar Tafawa Balewa Teaching
Hospital, ATBTH, where he was being
rushed to by good Samaritans around
    4am.
The Head of station of the AIT/
Raypower Mr. Terver Tsav who was at
the hospital described the deceased as
â€Å“a good Samaritan who wanted to use
his money to buy the fuel for the
stranded men not knowing that they
    had stolen the car.”
    Deputy Police Public Relation Officer,
    Muhammad Auyo denied any
knowledge of the incident, pointing out
    that the state Police Commissioner,
Mohammed Ladan, was in the best
    position to speak on it.
    Origin of Boko Haram
    Boko Haram, which figuratively means
‘Western education is sin’ was founded
in 2002 in Maiduguri by Ustaz
Mohammed Yusuf. The sect opposes not
    only Western education, but Western
culture and modern science as well.
In a 2009 BBC interview, Yusuf stated
that the belief that the world is a sphere
is contrary to Islam and should be
rejected, along with Darwinism and the
theory that rain comes from water
    evaporated through the atmosphere.
In 2004, it moved to Kanamma, Yobe
State, where it set up a base called
    â€Å“Afghanistan”, used to attack nearby
    police outposts, killing police officers.
Yusuf was hostile to democracy and the
    secular education system, vowing that
â€Å“this war that is yet to start would
continue for long” if the political and
    educational system was not changed.
In Bauchi, the group, which includes
    members who come from neighbouring
Chad and speak only in Arabic was
reported as refusing to mix with local
    people.
    Clash with the state
In July 2009 the Nigerian police started
    investigating Boko Haram, following
reports that the group was arming itself.
Yusuf, the leader and others were
arrested and on July 30, 2009
    allegations were made that Yusuf
himself was killed by Nigerian security
forces after being taken into custody.
    The development invigorated deadly
    clashes with Nigerian security forces
    and attacks on churches, public
    institutions and military facilities among
others which led to the deaths of an
    estimated 3000 people, according to
Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lieutenant
    General Azubuike Ihejirika.
    The Attacks
Prior to the clashes, many Muslim leaders
and at least one military official had
    warned the authorities about Boko
    Haram. Those warnings were reportedly
    ignored.
    According to Human Rights Watch,
between July and December 2010, at
least 85 people were killed in some 35
separate attacks in four states in
northern and, as well as in Abuja, the
    nation̢۪s capital. Attacks attributed to
Boko Haram in 2011 left at least 550
people dead in some 115 separate
    incidents.
In the first nine months of 2012 alone,
more than 815 people died in some 275
separate attacks in 12 northern and
    central states, and Abuja.
Among the litany of attacks include
those of the United Nations Office,
    Abuja, Police Headquarters, Abuja, the
    building housing ThisDay Newspapers,
Sun Newspapers and Daily Trust in
    Abuja, St Theresa̢۪s Catholic Church,
Madalla, Niger State, Deeper Life Church,
    Okene; Military Cantonment Jaji, Special
    Anti-Robbery Squad (SAS) office and
    other numerous security facilities
    especially police stations.
The security agencies also went on
    counter-offensive arresting, detaining
and in many instances killing Boko
    Haram members and leaders.
    Disturbed by the escalating violence,
    many northern leaders and groups
    including the Arewa Consultative Forum
    (ACF) urged government to dialogue
with the group to end the killings.
Last November, the group gave the
    government conditions for ending the
    hostilities
The acclaimed spokesman of the group,
Abu Mohammed Ibn Abdulazeez in a
    tele-conference with journalists in
Maiduguri stated that if the state and the
Federal Government want the group to
    cease-fire completely, then former
Borno state governor Ali Modu Sheriff
    must be arrested and prosecuted
according to the laws of the land.
He also said that the government should
compensate the group and rebuild their
    places of worship which were
    destroyed during the 2009 uprising.
He pointed out that for a dialogue to
take place, it must be through the
    following elders: Dr. Shettima Ali
Monguno; Former Head of State General
    Muhammadu Buhari; former Yobe State
    Governor, Bukar Abba Ibrahim;
    Ambassador Gaji Galtimari and Barr
Aisha Alkali Wakil and her husband, Barr,
Alkali Wakil, insisting that the dialogue
must not take place in Saudi Arabia.
Abu Abdulazeez also said that the group
has mandated five members who are to
mediate on their behalf; they include
    himself (Abu Mohammed Abdulazeez),
Abu Abbas, Sheikh Ibrahim Yusuf, Sheikh
    Sani Kontogora and Mamman Nur.
Buhari later distanced himself from the
group and the Federal Government said
it could not negotiate with pre-
conditions, thus the crisis was allowed
    to fester.
With the latest decision of the group to
sheathe their sword, it is hoped that all
    stakeholders will play their required
roles for normalcy to return to the
    country.

Am just gonna explain this as simple as I can for those Who have more than One Important Emails for Business.

As we all know BBC plan allows just one email account and one blackberry email account too. To Make Use of One Email, You need to Follow the Procedure Below:-

    – You need is a primary email address (Serves as your default mail) [I will be using a GMAIL as my default mail just for the explanation purpose]

The whole idea here is to forward all other email addresses to ONE. Here are the steps…

    STEPS
    - Add the “default mail” to your blackberry phone (I assume you have a mail synched already to your device)
    - Visit your GMAIL account from a PC. (Sign In)
    - Click on the gears icon on the upper-right of your GMAIL screen, below your avatar, and select “Settings.”
    - Click on the “Accounts and Import” tab.
    - From the “Send mail as” option, click on “Add another email address you own”
    - Type in the username of the other mail you own (yahoo, hotmail, etc) and also enter the email address in the textbox
    - Sends verification to confirm email address (use the redirect link or copy the verification codeand paste)

    - END!!!!

–>> Repeat this for other emails you own in case you own more than 2(two).

I guess that’s simple enough, send an e-mail to your other mail for test and you get a notification on your blackberry asap.
I hope this helps… Feel free to ask any question if not clear.
I use it and as a matter of fact I have 4 of my e-mail accounts in 1

    –>> Bless.. Cheers

MAN SETS SELF ABLAZE FOR FAILURE TO SECURE A JOB

A man ‘baptised’ himself in petrol before setting himself ablaze in a bid to commit suicide after his uncle had ridiculed him for failing to secure a job.

Police spokesperson confirmed the incident which happened last Saturday and said Garikai Gwenzi, had since been treated and discharged from a nearby clinic. It is understood that sometime late in December, Garikai who stays with his uncle told him that he was not prepared to go into farming, but would instead look for jobs for survival. Garikai then left for Tilbury Farm in the same district in search of part time jobs, but it was mission impossible as he failed to secure one.

He returned home empty-handed last Friday. “His uncle was not amused and sarcastically asked him to share what he had brought from his job seeking mission. The move did not go down well with Garikai who decided to cut short his life. He poured petrol upon himself and set himself on fire.

He sustained burns on the neck and back. His uncle came to his rescue and took him to a nearby clinic where he received treatment and was discharged,” he said. Asst Insp Kadzuraumera encouraged members of the public to solve their misunderstandings amicably. “We urge members of the public to find more peaceful ways of solving their problems or seek advice from relatives. They should not to resort to suicide,” he said.

5 men was arrested by printing fake currency

Five men were on Monday paraded by the Lagos State Police Command for printing local and foreign currencies.

Two of the suspects, Femi Jacob and Ramon Adeoye, were arrested at Ogunlana Street, Alagbado with eight printing machines and a large quantity of printed fake notes in Naira, Dollars, Pounds, Euros and Cedis totalling N8m.

Isaka Usman and Akeem Ayobado were also arrested at Ikorodu with 14 printing machines, one cutting machine and N100m fake notes. The fifth suspect, Onyeka Ibe, was allegedly an Anambra-based buyer, whousually comes to Lagos to buy fake currencies.

The state Command’s Commissioner of Police, Mr. Umar Manko, said, “This syndicate has been in operation for over five years. Their customers are spread across several African countries like the Republic of Benin, Mali, Ghana, Togo, Liberia and Sierra Leone.

“The Officer-in-Charge of SARS, Superintendent of Police Abba Kyari, got a tip-off about the operations of the syndicate some weeks ago and mounted surveillance at Jacob’s Alagbado residence. It was Jacob’s confessional statement after his arrest that led to the arrest of Ayodabo who is the leader of the syndicate.

“This case will eventually be handed over to operatives of Interpol because of the negative implications the fake currencies outflow might have had on the economies of the West African countries.”
The CP said the cutting machine was owned by Ayodabo and procured from the Republic of Benin.

One of the suspects, Ibe said, “I often come down to Oluwole Street in Lagos Island. Thatis where Ayodabo has his shop. I would spend N5,000 to get currency worth N100,000. I usually buy currency worth between N500,000 and N700,000.”

The fake notes which were on display during the parade looked real enough to have kept the syndicate in business for five years with customers spread across the continent.

Adeoye told PUNCH METRO that he was arrested at Iyana Ipaja, adding, “I am just an errand boy, my duty was to deliver fake currencies to buyers. I was on my way to deliver fake notes worth N700,000 to one Ibrahim when I was arrested.”

Panic Rocks EME Amidst Wizkid's Rumoured Exit From Label

As we speak, there seems to be an unrest in Banky W's Empire Mates Entertainment (EME) music label over unconfirmed reports of Wizkid's exit from the record label. Since Wizkid left EME mansion for his Lekki, Lagos home, various reports have claimed that all is no more well between Mr Capable and 'Holla At Ur Boy' crooner, who now seems to expect his boss, Banky W, to 'holla at his man' and not a boy anymore.

Even though Banky W has reportedly claimed Wizkid is still part of EME crew, industry sources have stressed that the time bomb will soon explode just as it went between D'Banj and Don Jazzy in 2012 almost about this time and all will know the true state of Banky W's business relationship with Wizkid, who they say, wants to move on unto a bigger level than EME.

These exit reports have left some of the EME crew in panic. It is not too clear to Nigeriafilms.com what other members of the label, who sources say are overshadowed by Wizkid's success, feel about these reports, but we learnt that Banky W may be losing sleep amidst reports in the media over the reported Wizkid's exit from the label soon.

Efforts to contact Banky W to make him speak about this issue proved abortive as he didn't pick our calls put through to him. We sent a text message to his known phone number last week but as we speak, he hasn't replied our SMS.
